African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, has responded to comments made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, saying he does not engage in public exchanges with someone he considers his subordinate.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Amaechi dismissed Wike’s criticism, which included claims that he lacks political relevance in Rivers State and was chosen as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate because of financial considerations.
“I don’t respond to my subordinate. Wike never hired me. Once I finish mourning and begin campaigning, anyone who insults me should expect a response,” Amaechi said.
Amaechi was initially a presidential aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) but lost the party’s ticket to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar during the primary election.
Following the primaries, Atiku selected Amaechi as his running mate for the ADC ahead of the 2027 general election, a decision later confirmed by the party.
