Nigerian content creator and musician Oderhohwo Efe, popularly known as Carter Efe, has become Africa’s most-followed streamer on Twitch.
He surpassed the previous record held by fellow Nigerian Adesokan Emmanuel, known as Shank Comics.
The milestone came after a high-profile livestream with Afrobeats superstar Davido on Wednesday, which sparked a massive influx of new followers.
According to checks by PUNCH Online on Thursday, Efe now has over 406,000 followers on the platform. Shank Comics, who set the previous record about six months ago, currently has around 233,000 followers.
Efe had roughly 322,000 followers just a day earlier, meaning he gained approximately 160,000 followers in four days, a surge directly linked to the announcement and execution of his joint stream with Davido.
In addition, the “Machala” singer reportedly set the record for the most-watched Twitch livestream in Africa, drawing about 83,000 viewers, and became the first African streamer to surpass 20,000 subscribers on the platform.
During the stream, Davido connected Efe with several notable figures, including his wife, nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest, and even addressed Twitch CEO Dan Clancy.
The session also featured a call to Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, adding a sporting element that thrilled fans witnessing a rare crossover between Nigeria’s music and football worlds.
The event took an unexpected twist when content creator Enzo appeared live, challenging Efe to an impromptu boxing match to “prove” his loyalty to Davido’s 30BG fan base—an incident that quickly went viral across social media.
