Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy has opened up about the challenges he faced during his university years and how they affected his confidence over time.
Speaking in an interview with media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Bounce Radio, he revealed that he was frequently mocked while in school, an experience that left a lasting impact on his self-esteem and ability to express himself publicly.
“Girls used to call me ugly in university and no one wanted to be my girlfriend. It affected my confidence, and that’s why I’m shy and still struggle to speak in public today.
It’s also why I find it hard to believe when a woman tells me she truly loves me. Many of them are showing interest now, but where were they back then?” he said.
He explained that those early experiences shaped his self-perception and have made it difficult for him to fully trust expressions of love, despite his current fame and success.
In an earlier viral video, Don Jazzy also shared his perspective on why many modern marriages struggle, using wedding cake traditions as a metaphor. He noted that in the past, couples often had traditional fruit cakes that could be preserved for long periods, suggesting that their durability symbolised the resilience of marriages in earlier times compared to today.
