Actress Ini Edo became emotional during an Instagram Live after the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) threatened to take down her movie, “A Very Dirty Christmas”, claiming its title was offensive to Christianity. She explained that the film was a labour of love, created with dedication and long-term promotion, and stressed that she and her team are all Christians, insisting the title was never intended to insult anyone.
Speaking to her followers, Ini Edo apologised to CAN, saying, “If I had known the title ‘A Very Dirty Christmas’ would cause a problem, I would have changed it. CAN, I am sorry. I never meant to insult or disgrace Christians. I am a Christian too.” She also pleaded for the film not to be pulled, urging critics to watch it first and judge whether it actually degrades Christianity. The controversy has ignited debate online, with many Nigerians questioning CAN’s priorities in light of other pressing issues affecting Christians in the country.
