A man in Zimbabwe has been arrested for allegedly killing his older brother after an alleged affair with the victim’s wife was uncovered, a case police say involved a joint attack by the secret lovers.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police said the victim, Benjamin Masaiti, 43, was killed on December 17, 2025, in Chimanimani. His younger brother, Tonderai Masaiti, 37, has been taken into custody in connection with the crime.
According to police, the killing followed a dispute arising from allegations of infidelity involving the victim’s wife.
“The murder reportedly stemmed from allegations that Tonderai Masaiti was having an affair with Chipo Chirigo, who was married to the deceased,” the police said.
Investigators further alleged that the suspect was not acting alone. “The suspect allegedly assisted his sister-in-law, Chipo Chirigo (45), in attacking the victim,” the ZRP added.
Police said Chirigo has fled and appealed to the public for information that could lead to her arrest.
“Chipo Chirigo is on the run. Anyone with information that may assist in her arrest should report to the nearest police station,” the statement said.
The incident comes a day after another suspected domestic killing was reported in Nyadzonya, near Nyazura. On December 16, 2025, police arrested Jelous Musasa, 35, over the alleged murder of his wife, Monica Tabvuroona, 30.
Police said Musasa allegedly assaulted his wife with a log after accusing her of failing to greet him. “The victim sustained severe head injuries and later died from the injuries,” authorities said.
Investigations into both cases are ongoing as police continue efforts to track down the fugitive suspect.
