The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has dismissed reports of tension in the Super Eagles camp following an incident involving Victor Osimhen and teammate Ademola Lookman.
In an official statement released by Team Administrator Dayo Enebi Achor, the NFF called the claims “conjectures of various complexions in the legacy and digital media” and confirmed that any disagreement during Monday night’s 4-0 win over Mozambique—a victory that secured Nigeria’s place in the AFCON 2025 quarterfinals—was quickly resolved. Achor emphasized, “There is no problem whatsoever in our camp. Whatever people saw as a crisis between two brothers was easily resolved a couple of hours later. All is good, and we are presently at training.”
The statement also addressed rumors about striker Jerome Akor Adams leaving the team, clarifying that he had merely taken brief permission to visit his hospitalized mother in Fès and returned within an hour. Lookman himself downplayed the alleged rift with Osimhen, stating in a post-match interview, “I haven’t talked to Victor since the game, but what matters is that we won. He is a top player and very important to the team. For me, there is no big issue.” The winger further urged the squad to stay focused on their AFCON campaign, despite Nigeria’s recent failure to qualify for the FIFA World Cup.
