Tambuwal Defects from PDP to ADC

Former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his decision to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Tambuwal disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, noting that he had formally communicated his resignation to his ward chairman in writing after consultations with his associates and supporters.

The former governor said the PDP had played a significant role in his political journey, providing him the platform to serve Nigeria in several capacities, including as Speaker of the House of Representatives and later as Governor of Sokoto State.

However, he explained that ongoing internal disputes and divisions within the party made it increasingly difficult for him to remain a member.

“The persistent internal crisis, leadership disagreements, and growing divisions within the PDP have made it increasingly difficult to continue my membership of the party,” Tambuwal said.

Tambuwal added that the situation had weakened the unity and direction that once defined the party, prompting his decision to step away.

According to him, he has now officially joined the ADC alongside his associates and supporters, expressing confidence that the party offers a stronger platform built on integrity, accountability, inclusiveness, and a clear commitment to national development.

He reaffirmed his commitment to national service and democratic ideals, pledging to continue working for the progress, justice, and unity of Nigeria.
