Teenager arraigned in Lagos over alleged threat to k!ll 15-year-old girl she accused of “snatching” her boyfriend

On Monday, 23rd February 2026, a 16-year-old girl was arraigned before a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Badagry, Lagos State, for allegedly threatening to k!ll a 15-year-old girl accused of “stealing” her boyfriend.

The defendant, whose name and address were withheld due to her age, faces charges of threat to k!ll and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace. She pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutor Friday Mameh told the court that the incident occurred on 20th February around 9:00 pm at Khalakuta Jegba Quarters, Badagry.

“The defendant used a razor blade to cut the complainant’s face in an attempt to make her leave her boyfriend,” the prosecutor stated, adding that her actions caused panic in the area.

“She behaved in a manner likely to breach the peace, creating chaos in the neighbourhood,” he added.

The prosecution said the complainant sustained injuries and that the defendant was subsequently arrested and handed over to the police. The offences reportedly violated Sections 230 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Chief Magistrate A. J. Aina granted the defendant bail of N1 million with two sureties of similar amounts, specifying that one surety must be a civil servant of at least Grade Level 12.

The case was adjourned until 30th March for mention.
