A suspected thief reportedly fled with a pot of chicken curry that was still cooking, along with the gas stove it was on.
The incident took place in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. In a statement issued on Monday, January 19, 2026, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said its officers responded to a reported theft along Havenwood Road in Trenance Park.
According to the statement, the homeowner told officers he had been preparing a pot of chicken curry on a gas stove in his yard. He briefly went indoors to switch on the radio and, within minutes of returning outside, realized that both the pot of curry and the gas stove were missing.
RUSA added that the resident did not see anyone enter the property and was unable to identify who was responsible for the unusual mid-meal theft.
