President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his scheduled visit to Iperu in Ogun State and will instead travel to Jos, Plateau State, in response to recent deadly attacks in the region.
According to a statement from his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s visit to Plateau is aimed at consoling victims and assessing the security situation on the ground.
The trip comes amid renewed violence that has claimed multiple lives, prompting the President to prioritize addressing the crisis.
Following his visit to Plateau, President Tinubu is expected to travel to Lagos to observe Good Friday before resuming official engagements.
He is slated to visit Ogun State on Saturday for the commissioning of the Gateway International Cargo Airport in Iperu, along with two commercial aircraft intended to boost trade.
Other planned activities include the inauguration of a Nigeria Customs Service facility and several infrastructure projects in Lagos, before heading to Bayelsa State on April 10.
