A South Korean woman has been handed a four-year prison sentence for blackmailing former Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min.
The woman, identified as Yang, allegedly extorted 300 million won (£152,000) from Son in 2024 after sending him an ultrasound scan of a baby she claimed belonged to him, demanding money in exchange for her silence.
Authorities said she later teamed up with a man named Yong in an attempt to obtain even more money from the footballer.
According to the Seoul Central District Court, Yang “lied” to Son, despite not confirming the paternity of the child she claimed to be carrying.
Yang denied charges of extortion and attempted extortion, while Yong, who admitted his role, received a two-year prison sentence.

Earlier this year, South Korean news agency Yonhap reported that a woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s had been detained on suspicion of attempting to blackmail Son in June last year, while he was still at Tottenham.
Son, 33, joined LAFC in August after a decade at Spurs in the Premier League. He also captains the South Korea national team.
