Lt. Col. Pascal Tigri and two other soldiers have been declared wanted by authorities in Benin Republic following a failed coup attempt in the West African nation.
Earlier reports from News Region indicated that Tigri’s bid to topple the government of President Patrice Talon was unsuccessful.
In the aftermath of the failed attempt, the country’s constitutional authorities issued a notice on Monday declaring him wanted.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development in a post on X.
It was also reported that the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of the National Guard of Benin Republic, who were taken hostage during Sunday’s attempted coup, have been released, according to a security analyst.
