A two-storey building under construction along Sultan Road in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State has collapsed, trapping four people beneath the debris.
The incident occurred at about 9 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026.
Witnesses said construction workers noticed warning signs of structural failure while working on the upper floor and quickly moved away from the building.
However, four people, including a security guard and a tricycle operator, were caught in the collapse.
Speaking with Daily Trust, one of the workers, Shuaibu Yaro, confirmed that three victims had been rescued, while efforts were ongoing to recover the fourth person still trapped under the rubble.
“We came to work here and had started taking sand upstairs when the site engineer noticed the signs of collapse. We rushed to safety, but unfortunately three people were in front of the gate and one other person was trapped,” Yaro said.
“Three have been rescued, including the security guard and his friend, while one person remains trapped.”
Yaro added that those rescued sustained injuries and were taken to Sir Muhammadu Sanusi Hospital in Kano for medical attention.
Rescue operations were still ongoing at the site as of the time of filing this report.
