The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has called on Ndigbo across Nigeria and in the diaspora to return home for the Christmas celebrations, assuring them of a peaceful and secure environment throughout the South-East region.
In a statement released on Friday, the group encouraged Igbo people to travel home without fear, noting that the festive season remains an important cultural period for unity, family bonding, and the preservation of Igbo traditions.
IPOB emphasized that security arrangements have been strengthened across major communities, roads, and marketplaces to ensure residents and visitors enjoy a hitch-free holiday. The group also reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and restoring confidence among the people of the region.
According to the statement, “Ndigbo should feel free to come home and celebrate Christmas. The South-East will be safe, calm, and welcoming throughout the festivities.”
The group further urged residents to cooperate with local vigilantes and community leaders to sustain the peaceful environment as preparations for the Christmas season intensify.
