Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has described the forthcoming Osun State governorship election as a potential “dress rehearsal” for the 2027 presidential election.
Momodu issued the warning to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
In a post on X, the ADC chieftain expressed doubts about the ability of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a free, fair and credible election in the state.
He alleged that President Bola Tinubu had significant influence over the electoral commission and claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was determined to secure victory in Osun as part of its preparations for the 2027 presidential contest.
Momodu further alleged that APC supporters in the state had been instructed to use every available means to secure victory, warning that the outcome could trigger further political tension.
He urged Adeleke to remain steadfast and focused on his record in office, while commending the governor for what he described as his achievements in the state.
Momodu also encouraged Adeleke to rely on his supporters and remain vigilant as the election approaches.
