The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested four suspects for allegedly robbing 36 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members at their lodge in Yola and stealing mobile phones and other valuables.
According to the police, the suspects allegedly broke into the corps members’ lodge located at the Specialist Hospital in Jimeta, Yola, making away with several personal belongings. Four stolen mobile phones have so far been recovered.
The suspects were identified as Elkana Ishaya, 17, of Clarck Quarters, Jimeta; Mubarak Abubakar, 22, of Galadima Street, Jimeta; Musa Umar, 30, of Samunaka; and Kabiru Tanko, 20, also of Galadima Street, Jimeta.
Police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the robbery occurred on June 27, 2026, when the suspects, allegedly armed with dangerous weapons, forcibly entered the NYSC lodge and dispossessed the corps members of their valuables, including mobile phones.
Nguroje said the suspects are currently being investigated for alleged criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession of dangerous weapons, criminal trespass, and robbery.
He explained that operatives of the Karewa Area Command launched an investigation immediately after the incident was reported, leading to the arrest of the four suspects.
The command added that efforts are ongoing to recover more of the stolen items and apprehend other members of the robbery gang who remain at large.
“The Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Umar Hassan, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, particularly those of NYSC members serving in the state,” Nguroje stated.
