Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI, have arrested suspected kidnappers and recovered AK-47 rifles and ammunition in Borno State.
In a statement re on Friday, the military said the operation followed credible intelligence that led to a coordinated raid along a known criminal route in Magumeri.
During the operation, five suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate believed to be responsible for terrorising residents in the area were apprehended.
The troops also recovered two AK-47 rifles, magazines, and ammunition.
According to the statement, preliminary investigations linked the suspects to kidnapping and other criminal activities across parts of Borno State.
The arrested suspects are currently in custody and are assisting security agencies with ongoing investigations aimed at tracking down other members of the gang and dismantling their support network.
