Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has spoken out against the growing expectation for actors to dance on social media to promote films, saying such practices undermine professionalism.
In a recent interview, Omotola said she enjoys dancing but would not do so as a marketing obligation. She said the issue is not dancing itself, but the reasons behind it.
She said dancing should be done for enjoyment, not because it has become a compulsory tool for selling movies. Once it becomes a requirement, she said, it loses its professional value.
Omotola added that her role is to act and promote projects through interviews and conversations, while marketing and distribution should be handled by industry professionals.
She suggested that pressuring actors to perform additional stunts for visibility is not how the film industry should operate.
