Godiya Akwashiki, former Senator representing Nasarawa North, has died at 52 after a prolonged illness. A family source confirmed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Nassarawa Eggon that he passed away at a hospital in India on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
Akwashiki, widely regarded as one of Nasarawa North’s most impactful lawmakers, was celebrated for his development projects and empowerment initiatives across the constituency. Before his election to the Senate in 2019, he served as Majority Leader and Deputy Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly. Born on August 3, 1973, in Angba Iggah, Nassarawa Eggon, he won a second term in the Senate, marking him as a distinguished figure in the zone’s political history.
